2016 Volunteer Leadership Awards
Each year, White & Case honors a select group of individuals with our Volunteer Leadership Awards in recognition of their substantial contributions to our charitable and community projects. The following people were recognized in 2016 for work over the prior 12 months.
Elisa Avetisjan, Romy Cywie, Marjo Delcourt. Fabienne Réveillon, Carmen Steeno and Pauline Tart (Brussels)
For organizing and hosting the Belgian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Sonia Vandeneycken (Brussels)
For running the office bottle cap program, which supports the purchase of wheelchairs for those in need and guide dogs for the blind.
Agnes Lamm and Christy Tang (Hong Kong)
For supporting the Hong Kong Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Cheryl Ashman (London)
For continued commitment to supporting White & Case's collaboration with Nestlé's Alliance for YOUth Initiative (A4Y), which encourages youth employment across Europe, in particular her key role in developing the A4Y "Readiness to Work Toolkit" to provide young people with the tools they need to enter the workforce.
Nick Salmon, Candace McCready, Lucy Plowright, James Whiteley, Tom Stratford, Sonia Polzella, Steven Houckham-West and Emily Elliott (London)
For consistent fundraising and organizational support for the London Office Charity Partner Only Connect, which is a creative justice charity that helps young people at risk of crime in London.
Jeremy Ford (London)
For spending a five week sabbatical in Rwanda lending his profession skills to the creation of Africa's first professional cycling team, which aims to participate in the likes of the Tour de France and the 2016 Olympic Games. Since returning to London, Jeremy has continued to support Team Africa Rising.
Laura Smith and Mariana Lavanchy (London)
For coordination of White & Case's participation in the LLST's annual London Legal Walk to support law centres across the UK, and for their organization of internal fundraising activities for LLST.
Leticia Tournaille (London)
For delivering extensive professional skills development training sessions to the individuals supported by our Social Responsibility program, for example, our PRIME work experience students.
Ekaterina Gorchakova (Moscow)
For organizing the Annual Charity Ruffle Campaign for the 2015 New Year Christmas Party benefitting two charity funds for elderly people and hospice.
Natalia Nikitina (Moscow)
For organizing the Annual Charity Campaign for the Charity Fund "All age is a joy" with specific support preparing more than 50 New Year gifts for the residents in nursing and residential homes for the elderly.
NY Lawyers Committee (New York)
For organizing the Lawyers Committee Impact Week 2015 in which we partnered with the International Rescue Committee. Activities included a refugee crisis panel, employability workshop, silent auction and donation drive (raising more than $20K), and pro bono and volunteer pledges. The Committee members are John Donaleski, Dominique Forrest, Laura Garr, Evan Hoole, Nida Jafrani, Narissa Lyngen, Kristen O'Shaughnessy, Jack Pace, Neeraj Shah, Clark Wohlferd and Taryn Zucker.
Ennio Rizzi (New York)
For his leadership and support of photography and AV at the White & Case International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Stephanie Sun (Shanghai)
For overall social responsibility leadership including efforts to organize an office event with Heart to Heart and a team for the JP Morgan Challenge to benefit Right To Play China.
Miyuki Tsuchida (Tokyo)
For overall social responsibility leadership including her work on the "FIT For Charity" event and efforts to incorporate social responsibility into client relationships.
Ting-Ting Kao, Courtney Hague and the DC Women's Network (Washington, DC)
For leadership in organizing the Color of Justice Program with the National Association of Women Judges for the Washington School for Girls (WSG) in which the DC Women's Network hosted seventh and eighth grade students from the WSG for a full day of speakers and events.
