Anna Burghardt-Kaufmann
Biography
Overview
Anna practices environmental law and assists clients with transactions, environmental litigation, climate change matters, and environmental regulatory compliance. Anna's practice involves work with a broad range of public and private sector clients, including public and private companies and governments. She advises on a range of areas of German and EU law, across a variety of industrial sectors. Her special focus is on chemical laws (e.g. REACH, CLP and PIC), emission control, water and soil protection law, and mining law, as well as advising on the allocation and management of environmental liability risks and their contractual attribution in the context of project developments and financings, MA-transactions and joint ventures. Anna also assists clients with their own compliance, compliance management, related due diligence and/or investigation as well as environment, health and safety-related crisis management.
Prior to joining White & Case, Anna practiced environmental law with another major magic circle law firm in Berlin for several years and served as a visiting professor for EU Environmental Law at Tulane Law School, New Orleans.
