Brendan Quinn is the Head of Project Finance in Asia-Pacific.

Brendan has extensive project and project financing experience in the power, renewables, natural resources, oil & gas and infrastructure sectors across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has worked in both common and civil law jurisdictions and has experience in many forms of finance including commercial debt, export credit, multilateral and capital markets.

He has worked in Hong Kong and London, and is recognised as one of Asia-Pacific's leading project and project finance lawyers by Chambers, IFLR1000, "Best of the Best", Who's Who Legal, PLC Finance and Asia's Leading Lawyers.

This includes being ranked as one of only three "Band 1" Project Finance Lawyers in Australia (Chambers) and as "Lawyer of the Year" in Project Finance and Development in Australia in the most recent Best Lawyers guide.

Experience

Burgos Wind Farm*
Advised the developer on the project financing of the Burgos Wind Farm, which was the first wind farm project financed in the Philippines and was awarded several awards including Project Finance International "Asia-Pacific Renewables Deal of the Year 2014". In addition, Brendan acted for the borrower on the first project financed wind farm in India- Khandke Wind Farm- as well as the borrower or financiers on over 25 other wind farms in Australia.

Ichthys LNG*
Advised the export credit agencies and financiers on the US$20 billion project financing of the Ichthys LNG Project. This is the largest ever project financing undertaken in the world and involved 8 ECAs as well as over 30 commercial banks. This transaction was awarded "Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year 2012" by Project Finance International, "Energy & Resources Deal of the Year 2013" and "Project Finance Deal of the Year 2013" in the Australasian Legal Business Awards and "Project Finance Deal of the Year 2013" at the CFO Awards.

Port of Melbourne*
Advised the borrower on the acquisition project financings for the successful bidders for the A$9.7 billion privatization of the Port of Melbourne. Brendan also acted for the winning bidder on A$5.3 billion privatization of the Port of Botany/Port Kembla.

East West Link*
Advised the successful bidder for the East West Link Road Project in Australia, the largest road project undertaken in Australia. In addition, Brendan has acted for the borrower virtually all of New South Wales's toll roads, the financiers of Australia's first availability road project, Peninsula Link, the successful bidder for the Clem 7 tunnel and a bidder for Queensland Motorways.         

Diamantina*
Advised the financiers on the project financing of the 240 MW Diamantina Power Station. In addition, Brendan has acted on all but one of the project financed coal fired independent power projects (including the A$1.1billion refinancing of Loy Yang B, every recent refinancing of Millmerran Power and Worsley Co-Gen) and the majority of gas fired independent power projects in Australia (including Pelican Point) as well as a large number of independent power projects in Indonesia, Philippines, Egypt, United Kingdom, China, Mauritius, Pakistan and India.

Chacayes Hydro*
Advised the borrower on the project financing of the Chacayes Hydro Power Project in Chile. In addition, Brendan acted for the borrower on the project financing of the La Higuera, La Confluencia and Coya Pangal Hydro Power Projects in Chile.

Basslink*
Represented the developer on the development of the A$1.1 billion 600MW Basslink electricity transmission interconnector project between Tasmania and Victoria, at the time the world's longest submarine electricity transmission cable. Subsequently, acted on the sale of this asset and for the borrower on the most recent A$950m refinancing of this asset.

Fortescue Metals Group*
Acted for the bond underwriter and bond holders on the US$2.4 billion high yield bond issue for Fortescue Metals Group's development of its Pilbara iron ore deposit and associated infrastructure in Western Australia.

Victoria Desalination Project*
Acted for a bidder on all aspects of its bid for the construction and operation of the A$5 billion Victorian Desalination Project. Subsequently, acted for a bidder on the privatization of the Sydney Desalination Plant.

Epic Energy*
Acted for the financiers on the $1.1 billion expansion project financing of the Epic Energy gas transmission pipeline. In addition, acted for the financiers on the original financing and a number of subsequent re-financings of the SEAGas Pipeline.
