Francis is an associate in the Firm's International Arbitration Practice Group. He represents and advises private companies, foreign sovereigns, and state entities in the resolution of international disputes. He has represented clients in arbitrations before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Francis has experience in disputes in a wide range of industries, including construction, mining, and textiles. His dual training in civil and common law allows him to understand the differences between various legal systems and structure advice accordingly. Furthermore, Francis holds an LL.M. in International Arbitration and Dispute Settlement from Tsinghua University.
Involved in the Firm's Pro Bono initiatives, Francis appeared for an intervener before the Supreme Court of Canada in a high-profile administrative law case.
Prior to joining the Firm, Francis clerked for the Supreme Court of Canada (Hon. Justice Brown), the Federal Court of Appeal of Canada (Hon. André F.J. Scott), as well as the Court of Appeal of Quebec (Hon. Benoît Morin). He also serves as a regional representative for Young-ICCA (North America), a leading arbitration knowledge network for young practitioners and students under the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).
