Biography

Overview

Hans-Georg Schulze advises clients in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate and Commercial. His expertise focuses on the advice of complex strategic domestic and cross-border M&A transactions as well as on joint ventures and strategic carve-outs.

In recent years, he advised in particular clients with business in the automobile, energy and technology sector. As a partner in the Berlin office, he is also active in the Private Equity and Venture Capital sector. He served several times as panel member for start-up investment contests, inter alia the European Venture Contest.

Before joining White & Case, he worked nine years for leading law firms in Berlin, Frankfurt, London and Paris where he occupied the French desk.

Hans-Georg Schulze teaches Mergers & Acquisitions at the university of Leipzig for the Master of International Energy Economics and Business Administration program.

Zynga
Advised Zynga on its acquisition of the Turkish mobile game developer Peak for USD 1.8 billion.

EWE AG 
Advised EWE AG and the Ems-Weser-Elbe Versorgungs- und Entsorgungsverband (EWE-Verband) on the sale of 26% of the shares in EWE AG to infrastructure investor ARDIAN. 

Leading European energy provider
Advised a leading European energy provider on various corporate compliance matters.

DIC Corp
Advised DIC Corp., a Japanese fine chemicals company, and its US subsidiary Sun Chemical Corp., on DIC's proposed acquisition of BASF's global pigments business, known as BASF Colors & Effects (BCE). The purchase price on a cash and debt-free basis is 1.15 billion Euro.

Advised Basalt Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of bn:t Blatzheim Networks Telecom GmbH and SOCO Network Solutions GmbH, full-service telecommunications providers based in Germany. 

Goldman Sachs
Advised Goldman Sachs on its acquisition of a  stake in Jumia AG becoming therewith an unicorn, an e-commerce platform for the African market.

Mid Europe Partners
Advised Mid Europe Partners on its acquisition of the intive group, a leading digital transformation service provider.

InDriver
Advised the Russian start-up InDriver on its worldwide expansion.

Shareholders of VI-grade
Advised the shareholders of VI-grade on their exit and the sale of their shares to the Spectris group.

SPIE S.A.
Advised SPIE S.A. on sale of a part of its German offshore business to the Boskalis group.
