Energy industry magazine Petroleum Economist named global law firm White & Case LLP "Legal Services Provider of the Year" in the 2020 Petroleum Economist Awards announced on December 10th. This is the third time Petroleum Economist has selected White & Case for the honor.
The award recognizes the law firm "whose expertise and involvement consistently delivers measurable value to its client(s)," according to the magazine. White & Case received the honor for the firm's close involvement in a range of energy sector deals, strategic input into clients’ business decisions, significant expertise in the energy sector and its niches and an innovative approach to tackling business challenges.
"White & Case continued to lead the market in advising clients on some of the largest and most complex energy transactions and disputes worldwide," said partner Philip Stopford. "We have dedicated energy industry lawyers worldwide, many of whom have spent significant time working in-house at leading corporations. This makes us uniquely positioned to provide one-stop legal services globally to energy companies across the energy value chain."
White & Case was also named "Transition Economist Legal Services Provider of the Year" in the awards. Transition Economist is a new digital service from Petroleum Economist that tracks the milestones and obstacles on the global journey to a lower-carbon future.
"As market participants navigate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and historically low oil prices, we continue to support our clients through unprecedented and continuing challenges, including in matters relating to energy transition," said partner Michael Watson. "We have been playing a key role in supporting our clients in their bid to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 on a global scale."
