For nearly 40 years, businesses and sovereign states operated in an increasingly open and deregulated global market with a growing trend towards commoditisation and trading / shorter term contracts and more comfort with higher levels of market risk.

Recently, driven by the perception of new national security threats, reasserted national identities, geopolitical rivalries and increasing competition for limited resources, the focus has turned to long term stability and security.

In this new and ever more complex global environment, how can Japan, a country with limited natural resources, secure a stable and diversified supply of energy to support its economic growth whilst still meeting climate and emissions reduction goals?

Our panel of energy experts will discuss the impact of the evolving geopolitical climate and events outside of Japan on the country's energy-related supply chain and explore the opportunities for Japan in a world in which new regional and political groupings, but also barriers and restrictions, are emerging.
