Overview
Waad is a partner at White & Case in Riyadh.
Waad has experience advising sponsors, developers, off-takers, contractors, lenders and governments on the development and financing of large-scale infrastructure and energy project.
Waad is a New York and Saudi Arabian qualified lawyer. Waad speaks both English and Arabic with native fluency, and is able to negotiate and draft legal documents in both languages.
Experience
Representation of Red Sea Global, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PIF, on the financing of Phase One of The Red Sea Project. This deal was recognised as "Project Finance Deal of the Year" by Capital Markets Saudi Arabia Awards 2021.
Representation of Saudi Aramco (as seller, joint-venture partner and offtaker) on the divestment, development and operation of the US$12 billion, largest Integrated Gasification and Combined Cycle (IGCC) project in the world, located in Jazan, the Kingdom. This deal was recognised as "Global Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International 2021 and "MENA Hybrid Energy Deal of the Year" by IJ Global 2021.
Representation of Saudi Aramco on its acquisition of a 70 percent equity interest in Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) from PIF, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom, for a purchase price of SAR 259.125 billion (US$ 69.1 billion).
Representation of Saudi Aramco on the structuring and tendering of the US$1 billion Tanajib Cogeneration and Desalination Plant. This deal was recognised as "MENA Power Deal of the Year" by IJ Global 2021.
Representation of Saudi Aramco as procurer on the structuring, tendering, development and financing of all five of its residential camp procurements, with over US$2.5 billion in capital value, to be developed on a BOOT basis.
Representation of Saudi Aramco on the structuring, tendering and development of the Fadhili IPP. This project was named "MENA Power Deal of the Year" by IJ Global 2017.
