Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) on the project financing of the 85 MW Winton Solar Farm located near Benalla in Victoria.
"We have worked closely with FRV on a number of their successful projects in Australia," said White & Case partner Brendan Quinn, Head of Project Finance in Asia-Pacific. "Financial close of Winton Solar Farm demonstrates the continued strong lending appetite for renewables assets in Australia and follows FRV's successful achievement of financial close for the 68.7 MW Goonumbla Solar Farm in Q4 of 2019".
The Winton Solar Farm has a surface area of approximately 250 Ha and is expected to supply clean energy to more than 50,000 Victorian homes allowing the reduction of about 150,000 tons of CO2 annually. ABN AMRO and ING are the lenders to the project which is supported by an offtake agreement with the Victorian Government.
The White & Case team that advised on the transaction was led by partners Brendan Quinn and Michelle Keen (both Melbourne) and local partner Mark Montag (Sydney), with support from counsel Candice Ota and Andrea Reeves and associates Naomi Midha, Kirsten Sugden and Maria Adalia (all Melbourne).
