Legal industry ranking company Best Lawyers has named global law firm White & Case "Firm of the Year" in the Project Finance & Development Practice category at its 2019 Law Firm of the Year awards for Australia.
According to Best Lawyers, the awards "recognize a single top firm for its work in a specific legal practice area nationwide. Awards are determined based on a handful of factors, including lawyer ballot feedback, the number of lawyers included in Best Lawyers for that firm and practice area, the number of office locations a firm has, historical analysis of the firm’s ‘Lawyer of the Year’ awards, and the firm’s overall scope and areas of expertise."
Of the White & Case win, Brendan Quinn, head of Project Finance, Asia-Pacific, said: "To be named Firm of the Year after our first 12 months of operation in Australia is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the depth of our team."
In the past 12 months, White & Case's Australia team advised on two of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects: The AUD$11 billion Melbourne Metro Project and the AUD$6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel Project. White & Case also has advised on a significant number of renewable energy projects, including the world's largest lithium-ion battery in South Australia and Australia’s first offshore wind farm.
"Our team is continuing to advise on the largest and most innovative infrastructure and renewable energy transactions in Australia and across Asia-Pacific," said Andrew Clark, head of Projects, Asia-Pacific. “Australia is an attractive market for infrastructure and energy investment, and our global footprint allows the Australian team to work with our network to service international clients on their Australian and cross-border transactions."
