Stefanie Benson

Stefanie Benson is a partner in the global antitrust practice based in Sydney.

Stefanie regularly represents clients across Australia and the APAC region on large scale complex mergers and joint ventures, investigations and enforcement matters, infrastructure access and obtaining regulatory clearances.

She advises clients on strategically important competition issues in a range of industries including technology, energy and resources, renewables, financial services, transport, port and rail and consumer goods.

She regularly acts on global transactions requiring multi-jurisdictional merger clearances and investigations requiring cross-border co-ordination.

By drawing on her extensive experience, she helps her clients navigate their dealings with antitrust regulators to enable them to achieve commercial objectives and to minimise legal and reputational risk. She has acted on some of the most significant sector inquiries in Australia. As well, she advises clients at the initial stages of acquisitions, joint ventures and other alliances to ensure commercial outcomes are achieved within the scope of competition law. She has also advised on the application of various infrastructure regulatory regimes, in particular regimes applying to rail and port terminal access and disputes arising under those regimes.

Stefanie frequently delivers competition compliance training and assists clients in relation to managing competition compliance programs across the AsiaPacific region, including comprehensive internal audits and risk assessments, review of internal training material, misconduct reporting procedures and dawn raid preparation.
